Massive Hypervelocity Runaway Stars in the Large Magellanic Cloud

چکیده
Abstract Since the hypervelocity stars were discovered in Milky Way, various mechanisms have been proposed to explain these runaway stars. Up now, however, dominant ejected mechanism of is still unclear. As largest and closest face-on satellite galaxy Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) serves as a good target, allowing us study this issue. Based on high-precision astrometric parameters provided by Gaia Data Release 3, we researched proper motions 3119 massive O–B2-type LMC identified 98 (∼3%) having ability escape from LMC, with more than 50% confidence. Furthermore, investigating characteristics adopting regression analysis, find that dynamic ejection scenario might be LMC.

A hypervelocity star from the Large Magellanic Cloud
We study the acceleration of the star HE 0437–5439 to hypervelocity and discuss its possible origin in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). The star has a radial velocity of 723 km s and is located at a distance of 61 kpc from the Sun. With a mass of about 8M⊙, the travel time from the Galactic centre is of about 100Myr, much longer than its main sequence lifetime. Given the relatively small dista...
متن کاملKinematics of massive stars in the Small Magellanic Cloud
We present radial velocities for 2045 stars in the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC), obtained from the 2dF survey by Evans et al. (2004). The great majority of these stars are of OBA type, tracing the dynamics of the young stellar population. Dividing the sample into ad hoc ‘bar’ and ‘wing’ samples (north and south, respectively, of the line: δ = −77◦50′ + [4α]′, where α is in minutes of time) we f...
متن کاملLithium and mass loss in massive AGB stars in the Large Magellanic Cloud
The aim of this work is to use full evolutionary models to derive observational constraints on the mass loss rate of the upper Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) stars. The observations used to constrain the models are: i) the relative number of luminous Lithium rich AGBs in the Magellanic Clouds, with respect to the total number of AGBs populating the luminosity range −6 ≥ Mbol≥ −7; ii) the s–proce...
متن کاملRunaway Stars, Hypervelocity Stars, and Radial Velocity Surveys
Runaway stars ejected from the Galactic disk populate the halo of the Milky Way. To predict the spatial and kinematic properties of runaways, we inject stars into a Galactic potential, compute their trajectories through the Galaxy, and derive simulated catalogs for comparison with observations. Runaways have a flattened spatial distribution, with higher velocity stars at Galactic latitudes less...
متن کاملThe orientation within the Galaxy and the Large Magellanic Cloud of nebulae ejected by massive stars
The orientation of nebulae ejected by massive stars (Luminous Blue Variables, WR stars, SN1987A) is investigated with respect to the structure of the galaxy to which they belong. In the Galaxy, we find that the projected long axes of the nebulae most often align with the galactic plane, and then also with the galactic magnetic field. This alignment is statistically significant. In addition, a f...
